Today, I attended the NE Learning Journey for staff in Clementi Pri.

Went to the newly renovated National Museum and I am really impressed by the way they organise the stuff in the museum.

Each of us was given a "companion". This is an electronic gadget which allows us to key in the number indicated on the floor of the gallery and listen to the audio explanation of the artefacts or events. So cool..

But it was kinda information overload for us as we were only given 2 hours to visit the History and Living Galleries. However, they only have the companions for the History gallery.. So please dont act smart and ask for the gadget at the Living Gallery k..

After the morning tour in the NMS (National Museum of Singapore, duh!), we took the bus to Asian Civilisation Museum (ACM). Unlike NMS, I felt that ACM was not of much relevant to me. They have a lot of artefacts from Asia but I just dunno how to appreciate them..

But the lucky thing was the activity at ACM was more fun. In order to make us tour around with some purpose, the museum facilitator played a game with us.

All the staff were divided into groups of 4 or 5. We were supposed to look at 20 museum artefacts cos we were told to play the role as connoisseurs. After which, with the $50k given to us, we were supposed to bid for the artefacts during the auction.

After all the 20 items were bidded, our facilitator changed role from the seller to a curator of a museum, the one who buys the artefacts for the museum.

So we were supposed to convince him to buy our bidded items at a good price so that we can make money in the end.

And true enough, my group emerged the champion as we made $38k profit after the Buy and Sell.. Some groups ended up making losses.. So we were good connoisseurs, yeah!

Kinda enjoyed the process of the auction, it was fun deciding whether should we bid for the artefact..

Not a bad trip after all.. :)
