What attract Singaporean to donate money?
I guess many will think that it is the attractive prizes given as an incentive to encourage more donation.
This evening, I had a hall event at Toa Payoh HDB Hub. We were doing fund raising for a non profit charitable organisation known as Club Rainbow. We had to sell charity tickets which cost $2 each.
So there was like a big group of us there trying to approach all the strangers that walked past, hoping that they would stop to listen to us introduce the organisation to them.
After a night's of ticket selling, i concluded the following:
1. Chinese males are henpecked. If their wives say no to charity, they will give you the sorry-i-cant-help-cos-my-wife-says-no face.
2. Malays and Indians are more generous.
3. Non-chinese are more willing to stop for a while to listen to what you have to say even though they might not donate.
4. Shop vendors at TP HDB Hub are quite generous. They will buy a few tickets at one go.
5. Lucky draws atract crowds.
6. Toa Payoh is not a good place for fund raising.. Haha..
